I just want to reiterate that we had a wonderful time at the LCO Lodge; it was comfortable, perfect for our numbers, and really made our Birkie weekend that much more enjoyable!
My group of around 25 club members stayed in the Lodge this year for Birkie 2016 and it was a fantastic experience. The lodge is only about 15 minutes away from downtown Hayward, making it an accessible location for the Expo, getting food for the weekend, and driving to and from the race parking lots. The Lodge itself is beautiful; overlooking lake Lac Courte Oreilles with stunning views, and a rustic, yet sophisticated feel on the inside. The open, large rooms are a great atmosphere for big groups as we could all hang out as a team the night before the race as well as relax comfortably the night after. The large couches and dining room tables are perfect for large gatherings. The kitchen was also wonderful for preparing food in large quantities; we were starving after the race, and its space (with the industrial sized stove, fridges and large countertops) was ideal for making a smorgasbord of food. Bedding was comfortable and spacious as there were 13 bedrooms to fit our entire crew. If you have a group between 25-35 that is racing the Birkie, this is a really comfortable, convenient, and dare I say luxurious space to do so in (might as well live it up for the Birkie!). I partially wished that it was summer when we stayed because I can’t imagine how nice it would be to stay there then. The only issue we had the whole weekend was getting a few small cars up the small hill of the driveway (this issue was partly due to the fact that the snow was very wet – most cars had no problems, so I think it may have been a fluke). Mary was very accommodating for our needs and a pleasure to work with. We all had a superb weekend racing, and I know part of that was due to our great lodging! Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Our family would like to express our thanks to you for the great week at your beautiful lake home. Such a lovely place and perfect setting. The weather was good enough to get in lots of swimming, boating, and canoeing...with even a 'portage' with our 6 yr. old grandson to School House Lake. The Rainbow play set was also a hit, as was the firepit for S'mores. Thank you for sharing. Lots of family fun!

This house is amazing – more than we expected, even with the harsh storms and power outage. We had a great afternoon out on the lake. The Lodge was big enough for us to spread out and that giant dining room table was big enough for us to come together. Where to Begin......
The Grand Escape far exceeded any expectations we had. EVERYTHING was perfect!
The condition of everything was pristine, from the comfy furniture to the amazing appliances, we "wanted" for nothing. The expansive space was large enough for us all to be together, but the bonus rooms also allowed us to have a place to go for a little quite time too.
Due to the weather we did not have a lot of opportunity to be outside, but to have the lake at the home level was really a plus.
We hope to be able to come back to the area next year, and hope to be able to stay at one of your properties again.
This was our first vacation with Grandchildren and one we will never forget. Babies in pajamas......there is nothing better!

While our family was vacationing at the Lac Courte Oreilles Lodge, we really appreciated the TV's and internet access. Both worked perfectly...especially for the Olympics! The massive dining table was wonderful not only for eating, but for gathering and game playing. The kitchen provided much conversation about the utensils..it had just about everything we needed. And you were right about the lake, it is amazingly "gin" clear! We found the Lodge vintage and charming. I'm sure The Lodge could tell many stories, and we have plenty of our own. It was another great week at the OCC (Old Chicago Club). Thank you for providing a facility that is perfect for our annual reunion. This was our 40th year, and the OCC is hands-down the best place for our family to hold it. Oh, the fun you missed if you weren’t along for the long weekend of March 9-11 at the Old Chicago House located just outside Hayward, Wisconsin!! Our group arrived late on Friday afternoon. The accommodations were absolutely spectacular......15 bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms - - beds enough to sleep 45 people, and some bedrooms had their own bathroom! A well-appointed kitchen the size of a small gymnasium; kitchen/dining tables enough to seat a small army; several fireplaces; lots of gathering places; a very large room with a pool table, a ping pong table, and a large-screen TV (none of which we used because we were too busy having fun); and a huge, enclosed front porch. And as if all that wasn’t enough, the house sat just a few yards from the shore of Lac Courte Oreilles (French for “Lake Short Ears”, and pronounced “Lake Couderay”). It was amazing and we had a fabulous time!

What a beautiful relaxing anniversary weekend! The house was gorgeous & comfortable. The view from here is amazing! We had a fabulous week: lots of fishing, grilling, games, puzzles, pool, dinner at Old Hayward and rented a pontoon boat from Earl's (excellent service and very nice people). The lodge is beautiful and very spacious(and clean). Went into town (Hayward) to visit the shops and purchased some homemade candies. Spent time each day on the lake and our dog Lucy- black lab- was in 7th Heaven. The cheese basket, candies, and coffee were much appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed! The sunset view is fantastic. Our only regret is that the week is ending and we will be returning to reality. Thank you for a wonderful time!

This place almost allows one to forget that anything or anyone other than right here and right now exists. The lodge easily swallowed up our family of 10 and was the perfect place to simply be together. At points between the few pike we landed, the lightening over the water, a great round of golf at Big Fish, a far-too-large meal at Lumberjack, the row boat, pontoon and lazy water our time was completely satisfied with what we see in the creation around. This northwoods retreat was great! Just like the website. Better than we expected. The weather was awesome, highs 80-85 all week, no rain, mostly sunny and cool nights. The sunsets were gorgeous every evening. We wish we didn't have to leave and go back to jobs & college. Rented a pontoon from Earl's Marine on LCO. Nice people to work with. The fishing was good, caught some small mouths on worms, minnows, and leeches. Couldn't find any walleye but we had fun anyway. Hope to come back soon! Your cabin was so beautiful, clean, and welcoming- we are recommending it to all of our friends back home in Cary, Illinois! It was great to wake each morning to the beautiful view of the lake, and then enjoy hot coffee on the deck. There was lots to do in Hayward, but it was hard to leave the lodge. We did love the fish fry at Pine Ridge Lodge( about 20 mins from Hayward)- they had the best Walleye and fried dough we’ve ever had! Thank you Mary for all of your kindness and help!

MPL's First Wedding!!! - September 29th, 2006
We could not of imagined a better setting! Our first night there were fire works and the loons singing. Friday, our wedding day, things were cool and calm - perfect for our celebration. We ended the weekend out on the pier under the amazing star filled sky. Needless to say, our stay was memorable, the house immaculate, and Mary was very accommodating. Thanks for everything!
